A team of researchers led by Dr. Yaakov Socol, Prof. Ilan Rosenshine, and Prof. Sigal Ben-Yehuda of the Faculty of Medicine, and Prof. Yael Litvak of the Alexander Silberman Institute of Life Sciences, has revealed another important aspect of the phenomenon of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. The study, published in Advanced Science, shows how a protein injected into intestinal cells operates inside the infected cell to block the cell's sensory mechanisms, thus preventing the infectious bacterium from activating the immune system.
